Green Up Day Postponed to May 30.

With so many closings and the Governor’s “stay home, stay safe” order, Green Up Vermont is unable to distribute Green Up Day supplies until the first week in May. Town coordinators will be communicating how people can pick up bags safely with social distance, along with plans for trash collection on May 30.

With Covid-19 and the precarious health situations in our world today, please use logical precautions and stay informed on what the Vermont Dept. of Health is recommending. Visit http://www.greenupvermont.org for information on safety, ways to communicate, and other fun information. Thank you to all who get out and Green Up to keep our state looking beautiful as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Green Up Day.

RNESU SURVEY

Dear Parents and Community Members

At RNESU, as distance learning continues, we are working hard to find ways to support our school community. We would like to ask for your input as we continue to make plans in response to COVID-19. Your voice will help us refine our plans to meet the needs in our community

To collect your input we are using a tool called Thoughtexchange. This tool asks you to answer one open ended question with as many responses as you like. Then you move on to the next step, called Star. In this step, you will see and rate the thoughts of others, assigning stars to each thought (from 1-5) depending on how strongly you agree or disagree with the idea, or how it resonates with you.

I am asking you for five minutes today and another five minutes tomorrow to help us plan our continued response to COVID-19 and how we can continue to support each other. You are welcome to log back on before the end of the survey to continue to rate new thoughts as they come in, if you would like.

OFFICE CLOSED TO PUBLIC

As a precaution, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mendon Town Office is closed to the public effective March 17, 2020 and until further notice. The Town Office staff will remain available to assist you by phone and email.

We will be checking the drop box and voicemail periodically throughout the day.  The following Town business can be done via mail: tax payments, dog licenses, single document requests, land postings, Green Mountain Passes, etc. Please call or email for specific details.

If you have an immediate need for a title search, please reach out to the Town Clerk.

We encourage everyone to follow CDC and Department of Health hand-washing and social distancing recommendations.
Thank you for understanding that these are unusual times, requiring precautions for public safety and health.

NOTICE FROM THE SELECTBOARD RE: COVID-19

The Town of Mendon Selectboard is monitoring the development of the COVID-19 outbreak.  In response, Mendon is reviewing information from the Vermont Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Vermont Emergency Management (VEM).

Effective March 16, 2020, the Town of Mendon will limit activities and meetings at the Town Office to essential municipal operations only.  The Selectboard, Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment will continue to meet as scheduled until further notice or action is required.  Non-essential activities and meetings will not be allowed at the Town Office until further notice. 

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 i.e. fever, cough and difficulty breathing, please DO NOT come into the Town Office.  Contact the Town Office at 775-1662 or [email protected] to assist in transacting your town business.

Dog licenses are due April 1, 2020.  Consider obtaining your license by mail instead of coming into the Town Office.  Rabies certificates can be emailed by your veterinarian to [email protected].

The town has postponed the Community Visit scheduled for April 2nd and May 14th at the Red Clover Inn for precautionary measures.  The event will be rescheduled, but the dates have yet to be determined.

Everyday Preventive Measures

Person-to-person spread of the virus is thought to occur mainly via respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Much is still unknown about how the virus spreads. Take these everyday preventive actions to help stop the spread of germs:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
